The most anticipated Monday Night Football game of the century goes down tonight on ESPN at 7:10 CT. Two of the most prolific offenses in the league lead by Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson face off in their third matchup of their careers. When the Super Bowl MVP and regular season MVP have played each other in the following season, the Super Bowl MVP is currently 4-0. Mahomes currently has a 2-0 record against Lamar but the Ravens superstar is looking to change that tonight.
This game should be one of the highest scoring affairs this season as Vegas's odds have the over set at 54.5. Both offenses have the ability to drive the length of the field and score at any given time, but this game boils down to the other side of the ball. The Ravens have a huge advantage on the defensive side thanks to an All-Pro secondary lead by Marcus Peters and Marlon Humphrey. It's no easy task shutting down one of the best quarterbacks in the league and the number-one offense in my personal rankings, but its not impossible. For Baltimore to win this game tonight the name of the game will be turnovers, and pressure. Can they keep Mahomes on his toes? Maybe even take him by surprise and capitalize on the mistakes that he rarely makes? If there's one defense in this league that I'd be confident in accomplishing that task, it's Baltimore.
The Chiefs also have the daunting assignment of containing Lamar Jackson. If they decide to give rookie LB Willie Gay Jr. (one my favorite rookies in this class) to man up Mark Andrews then there is hope. Although from the last two weeks it doesn't seem like that's the case. One of the rare weak spots on this Raven's offense is the interior o-line. Hall of Fame guard Marshall Yanda retired last year and left a gaping hole that has yet to be filled. Look for Chris Jones to live in the Ravens backfield chasing Lamar all game. If he can get to him enough, then the Chiefs will have this game in the bag.
If I was a betting man, I would take the over and Baltimore to win outright. Also an interesting player prop to look out for is Marquise Brown, who had over 100 receiving yards last week and his over on receiving yards is 53.5.
