I'm going to have a new intro soon, I swear. Maybe I'll mess around with some video editing stuff today so I can make it extra spicy. I still don't really know what to put in these. The weather's been kinda cold the last two days and it's been awesome. I love walking outside to a bit of an overcast and a shiver, I can only take so much consecutive heat. The sun makes my right pit flare up.
Kyrie Irving splits with agent to sign with ROC Nation
Kyrie's upcoming free agency is one of the most talked about topics in hoops right now, so even him changing agents is considered breaking news. ROC Nation Sports, founded by Jay-Z, has been adding more impressive clients to their repertoire over the years and with the addition of Kyrie, it could lead to more high-caliber athletes signing on. Jay-Z's New York ties are obviously going to fuel Kyrie-to-NYC or Kyrie-to-BKN rumors, especially with Jay-Z being a former minority owner in the Nets, but I'm not sure if it should be looked into that deeply. If the Lakers can pull off an AD trade before the start of free agency, I really think that it could be what gets Kyrie to re-join LeBron and come to the Lakers. It's well-recorded that I'm awful at predictions so the exact opposite is probably going to happen. I still think that it's most likely that Kyrie goes to the Nets, it's the best fit.
Playboi Carti cover story for The FADER
(Link to article here.) I love profiles like this because it provides us fans with a deeper look behind the music and the artists behind it. This cover story for The FADER's summer music issue, written by Ben Dandridge-Lemco, focuses on Playboi Carti, the making of his upcoming album Whole Lotta Red, and his ultra-private personal life. I didn't recognize that Carti is only 22. Maybe there is still hope for me. I learned a lot about him, and it was kind of surprising to me that he seems so much more laid back than his music would imply. He's also one lucky man because he's dating an ultimate PAWG, Iggy Azalea. She was my screensaver during summer 2014 or whatever year it was that she blew up. I'm pretty sure it was '14, but sometimes this damn memory gets in the way. If you're a fan of long-form articles or Carti, definitely give this a read. I just had a horrible case of deja vu, I don't know why. It's the absolute worst. Anyways, I can't wait for Whole Lotta Red and this piece only got me itching for more Carti. She wanna meet Carti! That bitch is a Barbie!
I'm working on a Sublime piece
If you really know me, you're aware of how much I love Sublime. It's been brought to my attention by a few recent articles that some people consider them "corny" or "lame", to which I say bring your stinky diaper somewhere else, asshat. I mean, I kind of get it, but I don't really care. As Max would say, "Sublime is what you make of them." You have to take them for what they are: a ska-punk stoner trio that transports "good vibes" and a pleasing sound. I don't know, man, I'm not a music writer. They're music is awesome, sounds even better when you're baked, and I could listen to it all day, everyday until I die.
I'm really excited about this because like I just said, I'm not really a music writer but whenever I kinda go deep on an album, I feel like it's some of my best work. It's going to take me a bit to finish because I'm going to incorporate (maybe) video, (for sure) audio, and maybe some kind of interview component. I've reached out to Rome Ramirez from Sublime with Rome via Instagram DMs to gather his thoughts on what Sublime has meant for him. I'm awaiting a response. I'm not expecting one, but one can hope. I know Sublime with Rome isn't warmly received by all fans and even Bradley Nowell's family (super understandable), but they've been able to keep the music alive and they were the first concert I ever went to a few summers ago. If you have any suggestions or anything you'd like to see in the piece, let me know. If you're a fan and want to have some level of involvement, let me know. Would love to have a ton of collaboration on it.
